Tottenham ‘win the World Cup’ with nine semi-finalists

It’s been an amazing World Cup for Tottenham.

Spurs have still not won any trophies under Maurico Pochettino.

However could the Argentine’s efforts pay off in a big way at the World Cup this summer?

Following Saturday’s action in Russia, it’s now been confirmed that Tottenham are the best represented club left at the World Cup.

Spurs have nine players still in action in the final four at the World Cup.

The breakdown is as follows.

England (5): Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose.

Belgium (3): Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele

France (1): Hugo Lloris

Elsewhere, Tottenham’s Premier League rivals Chelsea, Man City and Manchester United still have seven players in Russia each.

How Spursy would it be if the club’s World Cup success came back to bite them at the start of the Premier League season?

The fear for pessimistic Tottenham fans is that their players will return home knackered from Russia.

Could a combination of tired players and a move from Wembley into their new stadium hurt Tottenham’s title hopes at the start of the campaign?

Spurs kick off their season with an away trip to Newcastle on August 11. Tottenham take on Fulham, Man United and Watford in their opening games.

Tottenham hope to play their first match in their new ground against Liverpool on September 15.
