Coutinho expects huge criticism after Brazil’s World Cup exit

Philippe Coutinho is expecting plenty of criticism after Brazil were knocked out of the World Cup in the quarter-finals on Friday. The Selecao went down 2-1 to Belgium courtesy of a Fernandinho own goal and a strike by Kevin De Bruyne as the Red Devils progressed to face France. Coutinho says his team were desperate to win but must now expect to be given a hard time.

“We wanted to go all the way to the final but we’ve given our best shot. Everyone gave everything,” he said. ”I’m sure will be beaten up by criticism from all sides. Life goes on, that’s football. You win and you lose. “We’re sad because we wanted to win badly, like all Brazil. Unfortunately, we couldn’t.”

Coutinho was Brazil’s star man at the World Cup and came up with another assist against Belgium. Big things will be expected of him next season at Barcelona as he heads into his first full season with Ernesto Valverde’s side
