Wayne Rooney continues building fitness at training ahead of MLS debut for DC United against Vancoucer Whitecaps

Wayne Rooney joined his new team-mates for training today as he gears up for his for DC United debut. The former England and Manchester United captain moved to the MLS side from Everton last week on a three-and-a-half year deal.

Rooney, 32, will not officially become a DC United player until July 10 when the American transfer window re-opens.And he is set to make his bow for four days later at the opening of the club’s brand new Audi Field stadium in Washington.

The star, all-time top scorer for both his country and the Red Devils, appears to be wasting no time in making sure he is ready to hit the ground running as the first pictures of him training with his new side emerged. He appeared to be leading by example as Ben Olsen’s men took part in a number of drills at their RFK Auxiliary Field training base.
