Manchester United interested in signing Colombia’s World Cup star

Manchester United are reportedly the latest club to register their interest in signing Yerry Mina from Barcelona.

The centre-back earned rave reviews during his contribution to Colombia’s World Cup campaign, which was halted by England on Tuesday.

Mina scored three goals in Russia after starting the tournament on the bench, where he spent most of the second half of last season with Barca after moving from Palmeiras in January.

The 23-year-old is said to have struggled to impress at the Nou Camp and the Catalans were considering allowing Mina to leave on loan. But his form for Colombia has attracted interest from across Europe.

Liverpool were linked, while Everton have also made an enquiry. Now it is reported by Sport that Manchester United have expressed an interest.

United are keen to strengthen their central defensive options and Jose Mourinho has been linked with centre-halves from across Europe.

Mina is currently on holiday after the World Cup, leaving his representatives to arrange his future.
