PSG to unveil former Italy goalkeeper

Former Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon should be confirmed as a Paris Saint-Germain player on Friday after passing his medical. Gianluigi Buffon, Ufficiale is an Italian professional footballer who last played as a goalkeeper for Juventus.  Buffon was spotted checking into a hospital in Parisian commune of Neuilly-sur-Seine which is not far from the Arc de Triomphe.

Several reports in the Italian Press agree he was there to undergo a medical with PSG, before he travelled to the club’s offices, where he would have signed a two-year contract worth €4m a season. Barring any surprises, the Italy veteran will be officially unveiled as a Rouge-et-Bleu on Monday.

At club level, Buffon’s professional career began with Parma in 1995, where he made his Serie A debut. He soon earned a reputation as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in Italy, and helped Parma win the Coppa Italia, the UEFA Cup and the Supercoppa Italiana, in 1999. After joining Juventus in 2001 for the world record fee for a goalkeeper at €52 million, Buffon won Serie A titles in both of his first two seasons at the club, and established himself as one of the best players in the world in his position.
