Arsenal in talks to sign Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla

Arsenal are in talks to sign Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla, according to Sky Sports News. N’zonzi is said to be keen on a move to Arsenal and would cost the Gunners somewhere in the region of £35 million. N’Zonzi has enjoyed a long playing career around Europe at the likes of Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers and SC Amiens. However, it was not until N’Zonzi moved to Sevilla in 2015 from Stoke for a fee of around £7.2 million that he showed what a top quality player he is.

N’Zonzi has played 136 games for Sevilla has proven to be a top quality central defensive midfielder, something Arsenal are seriously lacking in their current squad. Arsenal’s central midfield has had its problems for some years now. England and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere was often sidelined through injury meaning Arsenal were often a man short in their midfield anyway and now Wilshere has officially left Arsenal they are in need of a replacement.

Furthermore, Granit Xhaka, who signed for Arsenal for around £35 million, has proven to be somewhat of a flop.

Xhaka has looked awful in countless games this season for the Gunners and if they do wish to fight for a Champions League place this summer, they need someone a lot more consistent than Xhaka in the centre of the park.

N’Zonzi could very well be the man to strengthen what is, at the moment, an average Arsenal midfield.
