Sweden will knock England out of World Cup, says Sven-Goran Eriksson

Sven-Goran Eriksson says Sweden will knock out England in the World Cup quarterfinals on Saturday. England beat Colombia 4-3 on penalties on Monday to reach the last eight, while Eriksson’s native Sweden secured their route following a 1-0 win over Denmark.  “England will struggle to score against Sweden,” said Eriksson, who managed England from 2001-06.

“I believe it will be a Swedish win. And as a Swede my hopes are with Sweden.” One of England, Sweden, Croatia or Russia are guaranteed a place in the final on July 15 and Eriksson believes his country could reach the final for the first time since 1958. “Given how they are playing now I believe they [Sweden] can go all the way,” he added.

“I have yet to decide [whether to attend the game], but I might go. It will be a fantastic World Cup quarter final, a tough and hard fight between Sweden and England.”
