James Garner is going on Man United’s pre-season tour. Dave Garner confirmed that news in a tweet this week, which the dad quickly deleted – but not before it was captured in a screen shot. He confirmed that his 17-year-old son James, or Jimmy, if off to America with the first team squad.
Garner is the Man United U17 captain, however he’s yet to play for the U23s, let alone the senior side.The teenager signed a professional contract with Man United in May. He appears to have been handed his chance to impress Jose Mourinho, in part, because of the World Cup.
Nine Man United players are still in competition in Russia. Those players will likely miss large chunks of Man United’s American tour.
The nine are Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young, Phil Jones and Fred.
