Jose Mourinho criticises England players over conduct vs Colombia

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has criticised England players for their supposed theatrics in the game against Colombia on Tuesday. The game suddenly got out of hand when the Colombia defence was broken and Harry Kane was brought down in the box.

That lead to the South American players scuffing the penalty spot and there were some handbags in the leadup to the spot-kick. The feistiness continued and England started to play dirty too.

Harry Maguire went down in the box under very minimal contact, but in fairness got straight up and seemed to tell the referee it was not a penalty. Now, Jose Mourinho has been speaking about Maguire and the England team and has criticised them.“The negative thing for me was the fact…I think there is an exaggeration on theatre by the players,” said Mourinho on Russia today, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“I was surprised to see central defenders like Harry Maguire, normally he is a very honest guy, diving in the attacking box asking the referee for VAR. Every team has lots of diving, lots of pretending, lots of putting pressure on the referee. The game loses quality…and for me that was the negative point.”
