Chelsea open to swap deal involving Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain

Chelsea have reportedly decided that they are prepared to consider the possibility of exchanging Alvaro Morata for Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain.

Last summer, Chelsea paid £65m to sign Morata from Real Madrid but the Spaniard endured a disappointing first campaign at Stamford Bridge with just 11 goals being scored in 31 Premier League appearances.

Since the end of the season, Morata has been linked with a return to Italy – where he has previously represented Juventus – and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues are prepared to consider parting ways with the forward.

The report suggests that Chelsea would be open to signing Higuain as part of a swap deal, although it is unclear whether either club would also need to pay a fee in order to push through the double transfer.

Higuain has spent the last two years in Turin with 55 goals being scored in 103 outings, while the 30-year-old still has three years remaining on his contract.

Chelsea are expected to be active in the transfer market once they have clarified their managerial situation, with Maurizio Sarri likely to be appointed as a replacement for Antonio Conte.
