FIFA has fined the Swiss Football Association AUD $47,500 and issued a warning about the behavior of members of their delegation following the team’s match against Costa Rica at the World Cup. According to FIFA’s press release, three Swiss delegation members came onto the pitch of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium without the required accreditation with one of them later insulting a FIFA security officer.
The final Group E game took place at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium and ended in a 2-2 draw, with Costa Rica failing to qualify for the knockout stage. Switzerland are currently preparing for their round of 16 game against Sweden, which will take place in St. Petersburg on Wednesday morning (AEST).
