David De Gea Insulted After Spain Lost To Russia

David De Gea is a bruised soldier after Spain’s shocking exit from the 2018 FIFA World Cup at the hands of Russia on Sunday but he promises to not give up and fight for himself and his country again.

De Gea, who has been brutally trolled for his ‘disastrous’ performance in Russia, posted a message on his facebook page, thanking the fans for their support and promising to come back stronger.

“For those who supported, criticized with respect and suffered with us, thank you. We are screwed but we will get up and we will not stop trying,” the Spain No.1 said.

The Manchester United goalkeeper, who is regarded as the best in the world, came into the World Cup with a big reputation but after their 4-3 loss to Russia on penalties in the Round of 16, he has been taken apart on social media for failing to save a single penalty and giving away goals in the tournament.

The Manchester United stalwart made one save in the entire World Cup out of the 11 shots which came his way (including penalties), and none Sunday when Artyom Dzyuba’s 41st-minute penalty was Russia’s only shot on target. Russia then scored all four spot-kicks in the shootout.

It was a shocking elimination for Spain, joining former champions Germany and Argentina. Still, World Cup history was on Russia’s side after its well-organized team survived two hours of barely having the ball.
