Gareth Bale can only really step out of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s shadows if he leaves Real Madrid for Manchester United, according to ex-Red Devils star Mickey Thomas.Bale is expected to hold talks with Real’s new manager Julen Lopetegui, but United are still reportedly readying a swoop even though Ed Woodward is of the knowledge that Bale could cost in excess of £100million.
And Thomas thinks it is time that the former Tottenham winger must head back to the Premier League if he wants to finish his career on a high.“Unfortunately, he’s had Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar blocking his path to becoming the best player in the world,” Thomas told reporters.“If he came to England and started doing the business, winning trophies in this country, then it will have been the perfect career.“He could go to Germany and play for Bayern Munich, but it’s time to prove himself in the Premier League.”
