Good news for England ahead of Columbia tie

Dele Alli and John Stones trained on Saturday as England prepares for Tuesday’s World Cup last-16 game against Columbia.

Alli came off with a thigh injury after 80 minutes of England’s opening World Cup game, the 2-1 win over Tunisia on June 18. He has been well rested since and did not feature in the 6-1 victory over Panama or the 1-0 defeat to Belgium, in order to be ready for the Colombia match.

On the hand Stones also featured, despite being substituted at half-time of the loss to Belgium in Kaliningrad. Southgate has insisted he always planned to replace Stones with Harry Maguire in that game and he looks set to be available for selection against Colombia in Moscow.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fabian Delph were the only absentees from training.
