Germany legend Michael Ballack shocked by World Cup exit

German legend Michael Ballack has explained his shock at the nations shock World Cup exit on Wednesday and questioned their attitude. It came as a big shock to everyone when Joachim Löw’s side was unable to beat South Korea to secure their spot in the last-16.

Following Toni Kroos’ stunning winner against Sweden, the side were just expected to come strong when it was needed most. Instead, they went out with a whimper as the South Korean’s beat them 2-0 on Wednesday.

That has lead to a huge inquest in Germany as to where it all went wrong for a side that was tipped to retain their World Champions status.

Now, Michael Ballack is the latest star to question just why they were unable to make the most of their ability.The former Chelsea star has questioned whether it was down to their attitude as to why they failed so spectacularly. ‘Just like all German football fans, the result from Wednesday in Kazan was a total shock for me,’ he explained to Betfair. In fact, Germany’s performance throughout the World Cup and the friendlies before were a surprise. Continued success can lead to mistakes. 

‘There is no explanation as to how a team with this quality can end at the bottom of this group.‘How can this group of players struggle with all these basics of football? Body language, attitude, intention – these things were missing in Russia and may have been missing for some time.’
