SAMUEL UMTITI DISCUSSES FACING MESSI

  • Samuel Umtiti is set to face Lionel Messi on Saturday when France take on Argentina in the last 16 of the World Cup.
  • It’s been a rollercoaster of a World Cup for Argentina so far but they remain in the competition after a 2-1 win over Nigeria.
  • France have had a slightly easier time but Umtiti knows he’ll be in for a tough afternoon against his Barcelona team-mate.

”I really feel that he doesn’t live football like others do – in the way he sees it, in the choices he makes and in the goals he scores,” he said.

”He just keeps scoring goals after goals. He has it in him. He doesn’t like losing. He always wants to win games and titles. I didn’t expect that from him because he already won everything. It’s his state of mind.”

”I see him everyday. It is very hard to stop him. He’s got outstanding qualities. We will try to stop him but he’s not the only one in this Argentina team, they have other strikers.”

  • The winner of Saturday’s match between Argentina and France will take on either Uruguay or Portugal in the quarter-finals
