Brazil’s diva Neymar came to the party in the Selecao’s last group game against Serbia in Spartak. Brazil ran out comfortable 2-0 winners with goals from Paulinho in the 36th minute and Thiago Silva in the 68th minute. Neymar was one of the better players and provided an assist for Brazil’s second goal by Thiago Silva. He generally made better decisions and avoided diving this time. Barcelona maestro Philippe Coutinho was instrumental in the game and was arguably the best player in the park.
Elsewhere, Costa Rica battled to a 2-2 draw against Switzerland. Costa Rica came back from a goal down twice and proved that eliminated teams are always the hardest ones to defeat. The Swiss scored with goals from Blerim Dzemali and Josip Drmic while Kendall Watson and an own goal from Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer settled the tie for the Costa Ricans. Therefore, Brazil will face Mexico in the round of 16 while Switzerland will face Sweden.
