Liverpool star set for Anfield exit

Danny Ings has taken the emotional decision to seek a move from Liverpool this summer as he looks to reignite his career. Liverpool are not forcing Ings to move on and would be more than happy for him to remain at Anfield – he is a popular member of the squad whose attitude and approach has never been anything other than exemplary. However, he has never had the opportunity to show what he can do, owing to two serious knee injuries that effectively left him sidelined for the majority of two seasons. His determination to recapture full fitness has never waned and Ings made 14 appearances towards the end of last season and figured in the run to the Champions League final.

But Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, cannot provide any guarantees about giving Ings regular football next season and it is for that reason the 25-year-old will reluctantly look for another club during this window. It is three years since Ings joined Liverpool on a Bosman from Burnley, having previously been the subject of interest from Tottenham and Real Sociedad. He has continued to attract interest from many clubs, though, and turned down offers in each of the last three transfer windows to leave – back in January, Stoke, West Ham and West Brom were all eager to sign him.
