#Match Report: Iceland 1-2 Croatia, last minutes goal ensures Croatia maintain group dominance

 

Croatia maintain their one hundred percent record in Group D with a hard fought 2-1 win against a rugged and determined Iceland side.

The final match of Group D between Iceland and Croatia struggled to produce many exciting in the first half though Croatia took control of proceeding earlier on. The group leaders started a strong side despite having qualified for the round of 16 and their dominance was visible from the first whistle.

However, Iceland slowly grew into the game and started piling pressure on the Croatians, Iceland became more bold as they looked like the team most likely to score as the first half draws to a close.

Iceland came out smoking in the second half but it was the Croatians that took the lead in the second half through a fantastic goal in the 53rd minutes by Badeji. However, Iceland soon equalize through a penalty, the Icelanders bust forward and try to find the decisive winning goal but it was Croatia that had the last laugh and scored their second goal of the game to secure maximum point in the group.
