Which French record has Trezeguet tipped Greizmann to break?

Antoine Griezmann has been backed by former France international David Trezeguet to become the all-time top goalscorer in the country’s history.

The Argentina-born forward is the third highest marksman in Les Bleus history with 34 goals. Griezmann is some way off Thierry Henry in top spot, who has 51, but with 21 but at the age of just 27, age does appear to be on his side.

“In Griezmann, we are talking about a unique player who is essential for France,” Trezeguet told MARCA in Moscow.

“Antoine has all of the qualities to overcome Thierry and I think that he’ll do it.

“I think it was also important for him to announce his decision [to stay at Atletico Madrid] before the World Cup and now everyone in France can focus on the football.”
