Sweden irked by Germany wild celebrations

Sweden boss Janne Andersson has revealed his disappointment with how Germany celebrated their injury-time goal to win the match 2-1. Andersson was particularly irritated by the German coaching staff members celebrating to their direction after Toni Kroos scored from a free kick to keep their World Cup hopes alive. The coach described the celebrations as ‘rubbing it on our eyes’ and making gestures.

“Some of the group leaders of their team celebrated by running in our direction, rubbing it into our faces by making gestures. That really got me annoyed and angry. We had fought it out for 90 minutes and at the end, you should shake hands. So I was very angry about that. ” Andersson said. Sweden also felt some injustice was committed against them after their penalty appeal was turned down when Jerome Boateng seemingly brought down Marcus Berg in the 12th minute. Boateng was sent off for another bookable offense in the 85th minute.

“I have not watched it but the people on my team who have say this is a clear penalty. If you have this VAR system, it is unfortunate that the referee feels so secure in the situation not to have a look. There are so many feelings around right now, but it is the most disappointing end to a game I have ever felt.” Andersson concluded. Sweden will face Mexico in the last group meeting and must win to keep their target of knockout phase alive.
