Referee for Nigeria-Argentina clash revealed

FIFA has named Turkish referee, Cuneyt Cakir, as the referee for Tuesday’s Group D clash between Nigeria and Argentina at the 2018 World Cup. Cakir’s appointment was confirmed via FIFA Media’s verified Twitter on Sunday.

The 41-year-old will be assisted by his compatriots Bahattin Duran (Assistant Referee one) and Tarik Ongun (Assistant Referee Two). Netherlands’ Bjorn Kuipers will be the fourth official, while Sander Van Roekel also from Netherlands will serve as Reserve Assistant.

The game between Nigeria and Argentina, will be the second game Cakir will take charge of at this year’s World Cup, after officiating the game between Morocco and Iran.
