Giroud sad over Wilshere leaving Arsenal

France international, Olivier Giroud has stated that he news of Jack Wilshere leaving Arsenal came to him as a shock because he had always believed the England international will end his career at the north London side.

Wilshere announced earlier in the week that he would end his 17-year association with Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of June. The England midfielder revealed that after speaking with new manager, Unai Emery, it was made clear to him that his playing chances that the Emirate stadium will be limited if he stayed. Giroud, who himself left Arsenal for London rivals Chelsea in January stated that he hope Wilshere would pick up his career and realise his potential at a good club next season.

“It’s big news and I’m very sad to hear it, because he’s a good friend. It’s a big loss and I hope he will bounce back as soon as possible at a good club. I wish him the very best because I appreciate him. I hope for him and his family he will bounce back. The new manager makes the decision and he has the responsibility for the team and the player,”Giroud said
