Gernot Rohr: Change of attitude not tactics won it for us against Iceland

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has praised his team for their fighting spirit in their match against Iceland, particularly in the second half. The Nigerians had a slow start to the game, a characteristics that has now become associated with the side, however, the young squad took the game to their opponent in the second half and they were rewarded with two lovely goals by Ahmed Musa. However, despite making a change immediately after the break, Rohr insists that it was the players change of attitude that won the day for the Super Eagles and not necessarily the change he made.

“In the first half, we didn’t play well so we have to change and we change one player but the most important thing was to change the attitude of my players to be more dynamic, to be more aggressive and to play forward. In the first half, they were nervous and under pressure because they know that they have to win, they are young and they need confidence and the confidence came in the second half,” Rohr said.
