Former Arsenal striker gutted with Wilshere’s departure

Olivier Giroud feels sad over Jack Wilshere leaving Arsenal and believes Wilshere’s departure will be a ‘big loss’ to Arsenal and says the decision is Unai Emery’s ‘responsibility’.

“It’s big news and I’m very sad to hear it, because he’s a good friend. It’s a big loss and I hope he will bounce back as soon as possible at a good club. I wish him the very best because I appreciate him. I hope for him and his family he will bounce back. The new manager makes the decision and he has the responsibility for the team and the player.” Giroud said.

Wilshere confirmed earlier this week that he will leave the club next month after a 17-year association with the Gunners. The midfielder had agreed to take a pay-cut to stay with the Gunners but he decided he had no choice but to leave once he spoke to Emery about his future. Giroud played with Wilshere for five years at the Emirates and he believes the midfielder’s departure will hit the club hard and will be a test of Emery’s decision-making.
