Uzoho sets World Cup record

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho is the second youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in World Cup history, older only than Li Chan-Myong (19 years 198 days) who famously shut-out Italy in 1966. The player showed composure beyond his years in the Super Eagles game against Iceland.

Uzoho who over a year ago was not in the national team picture but was identified by Gernot Rohr after Carl Ikeme took ill. He let in two goals in his first game for the Super Eagle at the World Cup against Croatia due to no fault of his it must be said. However, his reflexes and positional sense was obvious against Iceland after he kept his team in the game when he saved a Iceland freekick.

The young goalkeeper was lucky though, the record almost did not happen after Iceland were awarded a penalty, however, the penalty was missed and Uzoho is now in football record books.
