Sporting lisbon set to hand EPL star a lifeline

Sporting Lisbon want to offer Islam Slimani an escape from his Leicester frustrations.

Foxes record signing Slimani has scored just 13 goals in 46 appearances since a £29million move from Lisbon in 2016.

He was loaned out to Newcastle in January but made only one start due to injury.

The targetman is not part of boss Claude Puel’s plans at the King Power Stadium and has three years left on his lucrative contract.

But he is still loved in Lisbon for 51 goals from 2013-2016.

Now Lisbon, who have been hit by a mass exodus of stars claiming 50 masked fans storming the training ground jeopardised their safety, have to find the funds for Slimani.

Slimani is a close pal and compatriot of City’s Algerian superstar Riyad Mahrez who is expected to join Manchester City this summer.
