Liverpool legend Gerrard urges Rooney to quit

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has urged Wayne Rooney to quit the English Premier League and move to the MLS.

The former England captain look set to leave Everton for DC United after just a year back at his boyhood club.

Rooney has been in negotiations with the MLS side for several weeks but is yet to commit to a deal.

New Toffees manager Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands have both said they would not stand in the way of the 32-year-old if he wanted to leave his boyhood club this summer.

Gerrard, who was 35 when he left Liverpool for an 18-month stint in California, believes it is a good time for his former England team-mate to make the break.
