Spanish press reacts to Spain win against Iran

The Spanish press appears confident that their team will survive the group stages after a hard-fought victory over Iran which means they need only a draw against Morocco to proceed. There’s also a lot of respect for their opponents. Iran were a difficult side to play against and they did score a goal in the encounter only to be denied by the VAR .

The Asian side put up a resolute defending performance making it difficult for the Spaniards to break down and this seem to be the focus of the press on Thursday: La Vanguardia calls the Iranian defence “rabid” and says the team looked “dangerous when they needed a goal”. El Pais said: “You need a lot of stamina to break down a rival fixated on a single discipline, the rearguard.”
