Spain midfielder: We don’t care!

Diego Costa scored the only goal of the game as Spain defeated Iran on Wednesday, although La Roja were far from their best, something which Lucas Vazquez doesn’t care about.

Real Madrid’s midfielder made his World Cup debut in the victory, but he was unable to have the creative impact

Fernando Hierro had hoped.

“We don’t care if people that we didn’t play well,” he explained in his post-match interview.

“We don’t pay attention to what those on the outside say. We know what we’ve achieved.”

Iran’s style has been widely criticised by those in the Spanish camp, particularly with regards to time wasting, however the Galician winger believes that patience was important.

“It was a very difficult match, they played with 11 men behind the ball,” he intimated. “It was hard for us to create chances.

“With patience we managed to create our goal.”
