Mathare Captain hails his teammates

Mathare United captain George Owino has commended the work done by his teammates during his long absence with injury.

Owino has been absent since broke his toe during the Kenya Premier League action against Wazito on April 12. The captain is also happy with the stand-in skipper Samwel Olwande.

“I was impressed by how they performed in my absence because they showed a lot of character. Olwande did a good job leading the team and it will not be easy to return to the first team. They have a very good understanding (with Omurwa) and I have to work really hard to regain my place,”  Owino told the club website.

“All is not lost. We can still win the league but we have to get back to winning ways. It is all about taking our chances because many teams will want to do well against us in the second leg,” he added.

Mathare are second on the league table down seven points to Gor Mahia who have forty so far despite playing fewer games.
