Manchester United quoted price for World cup winning defender

Manchester United will have to pay  £50million to acquire the services of German and Bayern Munchen defender Jerome Boateng.

The German international is one of eight central defenders that Jose Mourinho has identified to immediately improve the Red Devils’ ailing back-line, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Portuguese boss has made the centre of United’s back-line his top priority this summer with Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham another well-known target.

United are keen to recruit an experienced figure and Boateng fits the bill and would represent a cheaper alternative to Spurs and Belgium ace Alderweireld, who the north London club are said to want roughly £70m for.

Bundesliga giants Bayern have let Boateng know that he is free to leave Bavaria this summer provided that they receive a reasonable fee.
