Former Sofapaka star ailing

Former Sofapaka captain Johnson Bagoole has been diagnosed with Meningitis, Kawowo reports.

Bagoole, who left Sofapaka in 2017 midseason, had his condition worsen this week and was transferred to a specialized facility. According to his friend Simon Musoke who was quoted by Kawowo Sports, the former Ugandan Cranes midfielder has no enough money to cater for the treatment.

“He has been weak for more than a month and was getting treatment. This week, the condition worsened and we transferred him to a specialized Lira health facility when he has been diagnosed with Cryptococcal Meningitis. There is no money to help and we call upon FUFA, the Ex-internationals, and all well-wishers for help.” Musoke said.

Bagoole launched his career Iganga Town Council before joining Express. He featured for the national team for around twenty times both in AFCON and World Cup qualifiers. He also played for AS Vita and Bukavu clubs, the latter being a club in Eastern DR Congo.

Bagoole had two stints with Sofapaka, helping the team win the 2014 Shield in his first and aided the financially constrained team to survive in 2016.

After joining Bukavu, he ruled out joining Sofapaka again due to personal reasons.

“I have personal issues that bar me from going back there but the club remains my home; I love the club and I cannot rule out returning in future,” Bagoole said after leaving Sofapaka.

He also played for Rayon Sports and APR both in Rwanda.
