David Silva Insists Spain Won’t Change Style of Play

Spain forward David Silva insisted that the team won’t change their style of play just because there is a new coach as it is how the team has always played their football. With four points from two games, Spain are tied for top spot with Portugal and will be hoping to finish at the top of the table and go into the next round.

Silva also rubbished rumours that he might announce his retirement from the international game and said he will continue playing even if Spain win the trophy.

“We have not changed how we play since 2008 and we won’t now,” Silva told an interview with Marca, according to Football Espana.

“Throughout that time the players have changed but the style has not, even when a new Coach come in, we have a defined way of playing that will not change.

“International retirement? No, that’s not something I am thinking about at all because as long as I can continue to play at this level and be available, I want to be involved.

“I believe I am honest and right now I am good enough to be involved with this team but the day that changes I will know myself and that is when that decision will be made.

“Experience makes you a better player and the more matches you play for and against different sides, the more you learn and the better you become.”
