2018 World Cup: Mbappe scores, breaks record

At 19 and 183 days on Thursday, Kylian Mbappe became France’s youngest ever scorer at the World Cup, tapping in from close range after Giroud’s shot was parried, in France’s 1-0 win over Peru in their Group C encounter in the cold of Ekaterinburg. David Trezeguet, the previous holder was in Ekaterinburg stadium to see it broken.
The performance was another grand chapter in an incredible career for Mbappe who said after the match, “I am happy. It was my dream to play in a World Cup and I am realising it,” he said after receiving his match award. “To score as well is even better. I hope many more goals come.”
A few days ago against Australia in their opening game, Mbappe became the youngest World Cup player for France and these new milestones will be added to the old ones, including youngest to score a brace for Les Bleus.
