Egypt likely to axe coach after World Cup

Egypt are already mathematically eliminated from the World Cup and this is likely to cost their coach, Hector Cuper his job. Although the Argentine took the African nation to their first World Cup finals in 28 years, the Egyptian media believe his contract will not be renewed. His current deal only runs to the end of the tournament and several Egyptian media sources are reporting that he won’t be offered a new one.

This will make Monday’s clash with Saudi Arabia potentially his final match in charge of the team he has coached since 2015. Cuper seemed to expect he’d be leaving the post when he said after the Russia loss that he’d need to speak to the Egyptian FA.
