Germany hunker down after Mexico defeat

After the shock defeat against Mexico in their World Cup opener, Germany have rescheduled their plans for the remainder of the group stages. The current world champions were beaten 1-0 thanks to a Hirving Lozano and have retreated out of the public eye following that loss.

They will train behind closed doors at their headquarters in Vatutinki. In addition, the German Football Federation cancelled a press conference with former player Philipp Lahm, who was part of the side which won the tournament four years. It is only the second time in Germany’s history, after 1982, that Germany have started the World Cup with a defeat. Joachim Low’s men face Sweden on Saturday and then close out Group G on June 27 against South Korea.
