Salah having shoulder trouble ahead of Egypt v Russia clash

Egypt team manager Ihab Leheta said Mohammed Salah will be ready to play against Russia if called upon,  but judging by the pictures that emerged from Saturday’s training session, he still looks to be having trouble with his left shoulder. Salah appeared to need help from team-mates putting on a bib and was also snapped pointing to the shoulder he injured during Liverpool’s Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid on May 26. The Pharaohs’ talisman was left on the bench during the 1-0 defeat by Uruguay in Ekaterinburg on Friday. As he continues to recover from the injury sustained after a tumbling over after a challenge by Sergio Ramos.

The coach also said that Liverpool forward Salah was expected to be available against the hosts in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday. Salah – who scored 44 goals in all competitions for the Reds last season – joined the rest of the Egypt squad during a training session at the Ahmed Arena in Grozny on Saturday evening.

‘Salah did not ask to play against Uruguay. Russia’s game is fateful and difficult because of our defeat against Uruguay. Winning is our only choice.’ said Leheta.
