Man United wage Twitter fight against Bundesliga giants Bayern

Premier League giants, Manchester United announced a pre-season friendly via their Twitter handle which went horribly wrong and ended in a Twitter troll between them and Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich. With the 2018/19 season set to begin on 11 August, the Red Devils needed to wrap up their summer arrangements with one final game against a big club – just to get the juices streaming before what will be a trying season for Jose Mourinho and his squad.

So what did their Twitter handle do? Well, they “put out an invitation to play a game in early August” against “a big club in Germany”.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich rushed to react and that was the point at which the trolling started. What’s more, they hit the English club how they knew best – by flaunting their staggeringly effective record in penalty shootouts.

Not to be beaten, United hit back with a history exercise – their greatest win ever; the day they beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in the Champions League final with the two goals coming in stoppage time to win a treble.

Obviously, that was 19 years back and times have since changed. Manchester United haven’t won a league title in five seasons now while Bayern have won the last six league titles in succession in Germany.

Clearly they had the last word. Or on the other hand did they? Not to be let alone in the banter match with nothing else to do this late spring until the World Cup is finished, other Bundesliga clubs likewise joined in the troll.
