Lingard says Pogba is going to get better

Jesse Lingard has come out in support of team mate Paul Pogba after the Frenchman was jeered by his own fans in the run up to the World Cup in Russia.

Pogba has struggled with inconsistency at Manchester United this season, where he and Lingard both play, but he is expected to be central to France at the World Cup.

Before Pogba moves to Juventus, he and Lingard were both in the youth academy at Old Trafford, and they have remained close since his return to the club.

“We were very close. He came over when he was 16 and we played for a few months. Ever since then, we’ve remained friends,” Lingard said.

“Paul is only going to get better. He is still young, he’s still learning the game. The world is at his feet.”

Pogba started for France on Saturday night, but the side could only manager a 1-1 draw with the USA.
