Salah Uncertain About Starting Egypt’s First Match

Mo Salah has revealed that, despite feeling “better”, he is still uncertain whether he’ll start Egypt’s first game of the 2018 World Cup.

The Pharaohs’ star man was injured in a clash with Sergio Ramos during the Champions League final, which his Liverpool side lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.

As a result, he became a massive doubt for his country’s campaign in Russia, though is now fighting to start their opening game against Uruguay on June 15.

“Now I’m better,” Salah told Marca, “I hope to play the first game against Uruguay.

“But that will depend on how I feel when it approaches,” he clarified.

“It’s the first time in 28 years that we qualified. It was not normal because we won the African Cup seven times.

“It was common to win the African Cup, but we didn’t qualify for the World Cup.”

When asked about his nation’s aims for the tournament, the Liverpool winger declared: “I think we have a great team and a great coach, we want to qualify for the next round and do well.”
