Nigeria forward, Kayode pens 5-year deal with Shakhtar Donetsk

Nigeria forward Kayode Olanrewaju has joined Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk on a permanent basis from English club Manchester City following a successful loan spell. Olanrewaju, 25, penned a five-year contract with Paulo Fonseca’s men on Friday. The forward made eight appearances for the club in all competitions and recorded three goals and one assist.

“FC Shakhtar have bought on permanent transfer Olarenwaju Kayode from Manchester City and the striker has signed a five-year contract,” the club confirmed on their Twitter handle. The striker, who has also represented Nigeria at youth levels, joined Manchester City from Austrian Wien last summer and was immediately loaned out to Spanish club Girona where he struggled to pin down a regular berth. He returned to form at Shakhtar Donetsk where he won the domestic double.
