Athletic Bilbao are hoping to bring Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera back to the Basque Country and are even willing to make him their highest-paid player to do so, according to Spanish paper Diario AS.
With the Spaniard’s contract originally due to expire this summer, Bilbao had planned to take advantage by offering to make him the club’s highest-earner, however, United moved quickly to extend the player’s deal by an additional year. The La Liga club now have their tails up and remain keen on eventually bringing Herrera back to his former club next summer.
Old Trafford officials are willing to listen to offers for the Spanish international, although Jose Mourinho would be hoping for a replacement to be identified.
