Boateng relishes good model role to youngsters

An important cog to Germany’s world Cup winning Machine and Bundesliga’s record breaking Bayern Munchen team, Jerome Boateng stature in German football is up there with the best. His career path that has seen him also feature for Manchester City and Hertha Berlin is one that is adored by upcoming players. Boateng says the responsibility to teach others excites him.

”I’m proud of my development. And it pleases me when young players gravitate towards me – I can steer them in the direction they want to go. I get along very well with both players, but they’re also competition for me. Both want to play for Germany, ideally all the time. But they respect my performances, just as I do theirs. If anyone else is better, I have to respect that and work on overtaking them again. Respect in general is very important. I try to teach that to my seven-year-old twin girls,” he told reporters.
