Mendes tells Madrid it’s now or never if they want De Gea

Jorge Mendes had a meeting with Real Madrid CEO Jose Angel Sanchez at the Santiago Bernabeu and told that it’s now or never if Los Blancos want to sign De Gea, according to a report from La Sexta in Spain.

It doesn’t seem very likely that Madrid will go after such a move, though, given that Keylor Navas completed a solid season and received the support from the fans when the team was celebrating their 13th Champions League title at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, it’s also true that things could change as soon as Madrid appoint their new coach if that man actually thinks that signing a goalkeeper should be a priority.

Mendes also discussed Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation and apparently things didn’t go according to plan, which could be problematic for both parts down the road if they can’t find an agreement to extend Ronaldo’s contract with Madrid.

Real Madrid will probably sign a goalkeeper this summer but one who can actually spend a season on the bench learning while Navas is still in his prime. Los Blancos could also take advantage of some opportunities if they get the chance. Courtois might be keen on returning to Madrid and it would be good for the reigning European champions to grab this keeper on a cheap deal, given that his contract expires in just a year.
