Manchester City move for Jorginho in doubt

Manchester City’s proposed move for Napoli midfielder Jorginho is reportedly in doubt due to the Italian club refusing to accept Oleksandr Zinchenko as a makeweight in the deal.

City have seen a number of bids turned down for Jorginho already this summer, but the Italy international remains their top target as they look to further strengthen following a record-breaking campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side are understood to have offered around £50m for Jorginho, but Napoli want closer to £60m and are unwilling to lower their asking price.

TMW reports that City were hopeful of offering Zinchenko as part of the deal to meet Napoli’s valuation, only for the Italian outfit to reject the proposal.

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly looking to recruit experienced players this summer and does not believe that Zinchenko would significantly improve his squad.

Jorginho has been at Napoli since January 2014 and made 39 appearances for the first team last season
