Harry Kane: ‘I am at my fighting weight’

England’s captain has indicated that he is on the verge of reducing his weight.

This comes after FIFA wrongly listed the England captain on its website as weighing 98kg.

An FA administrative error meant that the Tottenham Hotspur striker appeared to be one of the heaviest players at the World Cup, with only Panama defender Roman Torres – at 99kg – weighing more.

According to Kane, “The lads came over to me yesterday afternoon and said my weight had been put at 96 kilos.”

He further said, “I don’t know if it’s been changed but I’m definitely not 15-and-a-half-stone. I’m normally about 89 or 90 kilos. We weigh most days when we get up and that’s normally my fighting weight.

“I feel really good and training has been of a high intensity. Obviously everyone is fighting for places and that has pushed everyone along fitness-wise.

“It’s been a tough camp and that’s what we all needed. It was good to get some minutes on the weekend and I’m fully refreshed.”

Kane will captain the Three Lions in Russia as they look to progress from a group which includes Panama, Tunisia and Belgium.
