Boateng takes side in Guardiola, Yaya Toure row

Bayern Munich player Jerome Boateng has expressed his shock at Yaya Toure’s unexpected criticism at Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola. The Ivory Coast international was released after a few 10 leagues appearances last season which he after took to an interview with France Football to hit out at his former manager.

The Ivory Coast international accused Guardiola of minimising his role due to “jealousy” and a personal rivalry. A claim which didn’t sit well with a puzzled Boateng wh never experienced such ill-treatment during the Catalan’s successful three seasons at Bayern.

“I cannot share that opinion at all. I have never had a problem with him. On the contrary, I found as a coach he was super and that is why it is hard for me to comprehend,” Boateng said in an interview published by ESPN. Boateng is currently with the Germany squad preparing for the defence of their World Cup crown
