Poland’s Kamil Glik has ruled himself out of the World Cup after injuring his shoulder attempting a bicycle kick.The Monaco centre-back flung himself at a cross during training just hours after Poland announced their 23-man squad.
He underwent further tests on Tuesday in Nice where Zbigniew Boniek, head of the Polish FA, confirmed their worst fears on Twitter.Boniek wrote: “What a bummer, @kamilglik25 is hurt and will not go to the World Cup.”
According to AP news, a Poland doctor said the player will need at least six weeks to fully recover.The news will come as a huge blow for the 30-year-old and the Poland national side with Glik one of the leaders among the side.
