Lichsteiner on why he chose Arsenal

New Arsenal signing Stephan Lichsteiner says he was attracted to Arsenal because there’s a clear project as the club look to get back into the Champions League and start challenging for the title again.

The Gunners finished in 6th place last season, 37 points behind the champions Man City, so there’s a long way to go, but the history and the potential to improve have brought the experienced Swiss international to North London.

He’s the first signing of new head coach Unai Emery, and he outlined his reasons for joining to the official website.

“There is a project,” he said. “There is a project to come back into the Champions League.

“I think it’s hard to see a club like Arsenal not playing in the Champions League. If you see the players, if you see the club, the stadium – it’s the project, the big opportunity to get back to the highest level.
